Master Page Changes affecting user access? RRS feed

  • Question

  • If changes to a master page are made but the page is kept in "draft" mode how would that affect user access?

Would users be bounced out of their permissions?  If so how and why?

  • Ideally No.You should look into ULS logs to see where the user does not have access. There might some control in which might require user permission.

  • Hi,

if your site is a publishing site and you allowed the read permission user can see the draft master page then you should make sure that these pages have been published at least once before in other case other users would not be able to see the new changes as your master page is in draft mode so first published version would be available for users to see
