Abou using AS2 to connect with trading partners

Question
-
Can anyone tell me that if I use Biztalk to set AS2 to connect with our trading partners to transmit EDI documents, should I pay any fee? such as lincese or certificate?
Or, I can not use Biztalk to connect to our trading partners directly. If yes, should I use other tools to do it
If possible, can you tell me how to do it?
Thank you
Jimmy

Hi Jimmy,
If you are connecting directly to your partner then I do not think you need to pay. Though there could be a scenario when your partner is maintaining HTTP server with some third party vendor, then that vendor will charge for this service as the Vendor will work as faciltator between you and your partner. I am not sure about AS2 over HTTP, but we do pay in case of VAN if we have a third party involved.
There are few links which could help you.

You can use AS2 along with HTTP to connect to your trading partner to send edi documents directly. If you have biztalk licence then it should be enough to send messages using HTTP. For getting certificates you can make use of make cert tool or Certificate authority snap in. If you need to know where to start off then go through EDI and AS2 samples http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb743858(BTS.10).aspx
