SecurityData service expose UserId? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

Anyone know if it is possible to expose  the userid (guid) via the SecurityData service? Is it possible to mod the service somehow?

Ideally I want to make a one-to many relationship from what I presume, underlying, is the aspnet_users table, to a table within my external db without exposing aspnet_users directly (which it appears you cannot do from the intrinsic database when forms auth has been set.

  • Hi Ian,

Probably it's possible, but I would advice against it.

The GUID of the aspnet_user table is private to the membership provider implementation on db level.

The Membership .Net code even doesn't use it, it interacts via stored procs to the sql membership tables, and never uses that GUID.

A fortiori the LightSwitch security implementation doesn't use it neither.

Maybe there is a better solution for you problem. Can you reveal your intention?
