Webcam issues

Question
-
I want to develop a couple of applications in Windows 8 that make use of an attached webcam. I have installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview (Build 8250) and Visual Studio 11 Beta.
My webcam is a Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 and has been installed with a Win7 x64 driver. It shows up in the Device Manager with no problems. The software that comes with the webcam works without a problem but when I use the Win8 charms bar and select 'Devices' I do not see it. Also if I run the camera app it doesn't seem to find my webcam and all functionality is disabled.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Is there something I'm missing?
Does anyone know if the webcam support not complete in this version of the consumer preview?
I've spent quite a few hours trying to get it to work with no success, and any help would be appreciated. I would've thought that as the webcam is a Microsoft model, I would stand more chance than others.
Thanks in advance,
Chris.

The LifeCam VX-3000 should work in Windows 8 for the desktop. However it will not work in Metro style apps. Could you post the link to the other statement?

Strange that ms states that the camera is supported on windows 8 while here you state the camera isn't supported.

Is there a particular reason why the VX 3000 won't work? is there something special about the cam that makes it and the "Modern" apps not play nice?
