Windows phone 8 app certification kit RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am aware that the Windows Phone 8 app certification kit has two items like Automated Test and Manual Tests. I have some questions regarding these..

Are these two tests mandatory for the app to pass the store certificate?

Where does Windows Phone Application Analysis fit in all these? Is this also to be executed?

Can manual tests be only executed on a real phone device? Can it be done on emulator?

Is using components from windows Phone Toolkit allowed in phone 8 apps? Will there be any certification issue if these components are used in app?

  • The Store TestKit is intended to help you identify potential issues before submitting your app.  It is not required to run the test kit but is strongly encouraged.

The automated tests ensure the basic validity of the XAP file and media (icons and screen shots) that you intend to upload to the marketplace.

For best results you should try the manual tests on multiple devices.  If you don't have a device on which to test you may want to consider using the Beta submission option and getting some volunteers to help find potential issues.

Application certification requirements are documented in MSDN.  ( )
