Random "08fbd2f44c6d7dd6c1" folder on my D: drive (Microsoft .NET?) RRS feed

  • Hey!

    Im just curious what is this folder and can I remove it? It appeared some time ago there. Folder is not hidden. The folder is 194 MB.

    This is what the folder holds:

    -25 folders with numbers in their name (1025, 1037, 3076 etc) folders got eula.rtf, LocalizedData.xml and SetupResources.dll inside them

  • Hi FinnishGameBox,

    Random folder names are frequently left over from an installer which uses these to expand the executable for the installation. They should be cleaned up after the installation but all too frequently not.

    They can be deleted although you may well get ownership errors when you try. Use the Disk Cleanup -> Clean System files option as this can invoke the trusted installer account to remove them.

    Then Run Windows Update to make sure that you are fully up to date and see if there are any issues.
