About WebAssistantEnabled RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to display the facets like when you right-click Facets on a server in SQL Server Management Studio ( the code is based on this provided by Jens SuessMyer ). But i have a little problem with the property WebAssistantEnabled ( coming from IServerConfiguration ).

    Why WebAssistantEnabled is appearing in IServerConfiguration but nowhere in the class Server or the other classes related like Configuration and so on. On another way, it is appearing in the properties of ServerAdapter

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.sqlserver.management.smo.serveradapterbase.webassistantenabled(v=SQL.100).aspx

    When i am trying to test WebAssistantEnabled , i am obtaining an error :

    Unhandled Exception: Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.UnsupportedVersionExcept
    ion: This method cannot be called on the server version 10.
       at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Configuration.get_WebXPsEnabled()
       at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.ServerAdapterBase.get_WebAssistantEnabl
    ed()
       at Cons_FacetsList.Program.Main(String[] args) in E:\Projets VCSharp 2008\Con
    s_FacetsList\Cons_FacetsList\Program.cs:line 140

    Why not to indicate in the documentation ( previous link ) that this property is no more supported in SQL Server 2008  ?

    Have a nice day

    PS : i hope you will excuse if you find me obscured but i am far to master the english language

  • Hi Patrick,

    this feature is unsupported. You shouldn´t need it anymore (there has been some circumstances in terms of single threaded processes but this shouldn´t be a problem anymore). I would ask you to file a bug on the http://connect.microsoft.com/sql site, as this will be assigned to the approriate feature owners directly. Nevertheless, as long as you apply the change / setting to a SQL Server < Version 10 (SQL Server 2008) it should still work fine.

  • Hello Jens,

    Thanks for your quick answer.

    I think i will file a bug as you adviced me ( and i will reactivate the bug related to the missing of the property ExtendedProperties for DataFile,LogFile classes ).

    I hope these little bugs will be corrected in the SP2 of SQL Server 2008 and SP5 of SQL Server 2005 and SP1 for SQL Server 2008 R2

    Have a nice day
