Device Drivers in wince 5.0 RRS feed

  • Hi

    Im a Beginner and I dont know much about device drivers except sum functions like open,close,read,write,ioctl.I want to write a display driver.Can anyone please help me?

  • Can you provide details like Which wince BSP are you using?

    Which processor?

     

    You need to write kernel driver or in bootloader ?

    Is this a custom driver for specific operation ?

  • If you are doing it in the bootloader, it isn't a "driver" so much as it is just code that controls the display.  What display controller are you using?

    BTW, I hope that this is just a learning exercise since the PXA255 is end of life.

  • In Boot loader you need to configure the Display sub system for the display resolution you are using. Configure other display sub system settings as per the data sheet (scaling, sync pulse, clock setting, input format etc) to display the image onto the screen.

     

    Create a frame buffer, copy the image into the frame buffer. Display sub system should know the address of the frame buffer.
