ES 2003 WebDAV to ES 2010 EWS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello-

I have an application that uses extensive WebDAV calls to manage an ES2003 mailbox. We are in the process of converting this mailbox to ES2010. Before I can proceed, I need to update all of my WebDAV to EWS. I have found some samples that will help me achieve this endeavor. However, I have an issue with mapping the existing email messages.

Currently, I maintain the URI of the mail message in the database (i.e. http://www.mymailserver.com/Exchange/mailbox/blahblahblah.EML). I use the URI to open the mail message within an embedded webbrowser control on my winform using OWA. ES 2010 does not support the URI and gives a very long ID to the message. When I move the messages to ES2010 from ES2003, how do I update the database so I can retrieve the same message?

I have investigated setting custom properties on the mail message. If I were to create a custom property (i.e. <ES2003ID>123456</ES2003ID>, will this be converted during the migration from ES2003 to ES2010? If so, can someone please provide a sample of the WebDAV call that would allow me to ceate this property on the email item?

If there is another field that I could use to insure that I can remap the mail message from ES2003 to ES 2010 within my database, any suggestopns would be most appreciated.

    Thank You,
    Bob

  • Hello-

As an update, I have successfully coded adding, updating and removing a custom property on an email item on ES2003 using the schema "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office". So my only question remaining is if custom properties are maintained during porting of the mailbox from ES2003 to ES2010.

    Thank You,
    Bob
