Splitting Tables RRS feed

  • User357616875 posted

I got a table with 25 columns in it. Only 3 of the columns are used in the customer facing website. The other 22 are used in the backend admin section of the site. The Admin part of the site is used about once a week, and the customer facing side, gets about 100,000 hits a day.

Is it better to split the tables, would it offer any performance gains.

    Any help would be great

if you select just the 3 columns from 25 every time you need, no, it would not.

If the data is select only

use VIEWS to logically present two organizations of the same data table.

    Hi Greecemonkey,

As above said, no need to split if you select statement.

To analyze, you use sql profiler (time to execution) , also check by making index, if you need and.

You check that it is table scan or index scan.
