running automated coded UI test via MTM testing center RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to run a coded UI test via MTM.

I connected my coded UI test to test case on "associated automation", when trying to run the test I get an error "you cannot run the selected tests - cannot create automated test run.  a build associated withthe active test plan is required to submit an automated test run" - what does it mean ?

I also tryied to follow " Create a Test Case from an Automated Test "

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd380741.aspx

but I cannot see the option "Create Test Case from Test" on my test view.

    thanks, Ayelet

  • Hi Ayelet,

You have associated the Coded UI test to the test case, but there are few more steps that need to be followed in order to run the test from MTM. Please have a look at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd553270.aspx

Let us know if you still hit issues.

    thanks!

  • I understood that I don't have to use team foundation build. it says that "You must create a build definition that just has a share location added that is where your assemblies for your tests are located"

I dont have any source control. can I just use the debug folder ? how can I connect MTM test case to the assemblies location ?

    thank you !

  • Hi Shubhra,

Thank you for your instructions. I had similar situation and I was able to run automated test cases from MTM without changing its status from 'Aotomated' to 'Not Automated'. The issue is I am not able to run the same test case which has been connected to DDT and where I have added more logics i.e. assertions and so on. How can we facilitate those test cases to be run from MTM? I will appreciate your thoughts in this regard.
