  • Question

  • We are looking at doing WordPress on Azure and have a few questions as we have never done anything on Azure to date.

    1. What version of WordPress does Azure install?
(the most recent version is 4.2.2)

    2. How is Azure's WordPress install different
from a clean install from Wordpress.org?

    3. If possible, can we get a copy of the Azure WordPress
    source folder?

    Thanks

  • 1. Most recent version (4.2.2).

    2. Should be the same as the default Wordpress on Windows. The database is not local though, it's hosted by ClearDB. The easiest way to inspect it is to look at the install using the steps below.

    3. Create a Wordpress web app as follows:

    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/web-sites-php-web-site-gallery/

Then download the site content and take a look. The easiest way to download site content is via the SCM site at <your-site-name>.scm.azurewebsites.net. Using the top bar: Debug console > CMD , then click on the site folder and then download the wwwroot folder. That is the initial wordpress install. Alternatively you could grab the folder with web deploy or FTP.
