Question about keeping Access Database open to Azure RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi AccessDevelopers

I have come across this article for keeping the database open during the running of the application

    http://www.fmsinc.com/microsoftaccess/performance.html

Keep an Open Handle to Every Linked Database
You can significantly increase the performance of opening tables, forms, and reports that are based
on linked tables by having Microsoft Access keep the linked table's database open. To do this, open
a Database variable in Visual Basic code using the OpenDatabase method. Keep this variable open
as long as your application is running. This forces Access to keep that database open, making
access to linked tables much faster.
For more information, read our tip on Increasing the Performance of Linked Databases

    http://www.fmsinc.com/microsoftaccess/Performance/LinkedDatabase.html

In the case of Azure, would the linked tables be treated in the same manner,

and the database odbc string be placed in lieu of the network drive.

    Thank you kindly

    Thank you in Advance

  • While keeping an open connection to an Access back end does help performance, I have used that technique with SQL Server databases as back ends and found it unnecessary.
