SQL management studio isn't opening after update. RRS feed

  • Hello, My SQL server  management studio is not opening after it get security update(Security update for SQL server 2017 RTM GDR (KB4494351))automatically in updates . I tried after uninstalling update but its still not opening.

  • We have been seeing this for several years now .. please close all your internet explorer then ...

    • Launch command line in administrative mode.
    • Go to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer or c:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer if you have Win x64.
    • Execute regsvr32 /u ieproxy.dll (this might throw an error if it isn't loaded)
    • Execute regsvr32 ieproxy.dll

    Did it show some error message when it is not opening? What  version of ssms are you using? Would you please try to uninstall and reinstall ssms?

    Would you please follow the  steps below:

     

    Copy the File : Microsoft.VisualStudio.Shell.Interop.8.0.dll

    Located in

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 18\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies\Interop

     

    Paste in the Folder:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 18\Common7\IDE\
