  • Ask the device manufacturer about writing a Windows 8 driver for Windows 8 users.

  • Is it saying the Audio Service is not started?  Did you do a clean install?  I had the same problem when I updated WinXP on an older laptop.  It didn't recognize any sound device and I could not get the Audio Service started.  I had saved all my documents, pictures, music and downloads and then did a reinstall of the Windows Dev. Preview.  I didn't do the upgrade the 2nd time.  Within a very short time, it rebooted a few times and after it was finished, I had sound.  Loving the Preview. Can't wait for the Beta.
