Implementing a custom Object Picker (IAzPrincipalLocator) for Authorisation Manager (AzMan) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I'm trying to implement a custom Object Picker and Name Resolver for AzMan (Win2008 / Vista / Win7 version).

I've implemented the interfaces that the documentation mentions and registered the GUID at the key mentioned at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa377914(v=vs.85).aspx

However, when I start azman.msc, I don't get any custom entries in the "Assign Users and Groups" menu.

I used Process Monitor and noted that the correct registry keys were being interrogated, but still, no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas / tips on what I'm doing wrong?  My custom class is written in .NET 4.0 and is decorated with a static GUID using the GUID attribute.

Did you ever get this working?

I posted some "MS says there is an example", but I can't find any....comment at:

  • Nope.

I've abandoned the idea, as I have found NO examples or concrete leads out there, and have written an app to add SIDs from an external store (ADLDS) to AzMan via the API.  The downside of this is that those custom added SIDs will appaear as SIDs in the azman UI.

Ok, thanks for following up.  What a goose chase, and your goose chase was a lot longer than mine.

For this reason, and the COM based nature of Azman, I've decided to go with NetSqlAzMan instead.

    Thanks again.
