How to se value of server parameters? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am playing around with database mirroring and found this on internet (This puts database out of mirroring)

ALTER DATABASE DB1 SET PARTNER OFF

ALTER DATABASE DB1 SET SAFETY FULL

The question is how can I see values of these parameter before change... In Oracle you have show parameter <name> and the value is shown to you?

  • ALTER DATABASE DB1 SET PARTNER OFF  commands removes the connection between the principle server and mirrored server.

ALTER DATABASE DB1 SET SAFETY FULL. this command set the mirroring in syncronous mode, i which transaction is committs changes on principle and mirror at same time,

  • Hi,

you could query sys.database_mirroring http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178655.aspx e.g. the below will give the current safety level for mirrored databases on the instance

    SELECT DB_NAME(database_id) AS database_name, mirroring_safety_level_desc
    FROM master.sys.database_mirroring
    WHERE mirroring_guid IS NOT NULL
    ORDER BY DB_NAME(database_id)

  • >>>ALTER DATABASE DB1 SET SAFETY FULL. this command set the mirroring in asyncronous mode

I think you meant synchronous----- database mirroring session runs synchronously.
