Export to Excel: "Error Detected By Export DLL"

    Question

  • Hello All,

I have a .Net 1.1 application that converts some crystal reports (v9.1.5) to Excel.  The conversion always fails for Excel, and I get an error message that states "Error Detected By Export DLL".  I have read this is a windows compatibililty issue (Windows 2003 SP2)...I have also read that upgrading from 9.1.5 to 9.2.33 solves this issue.  Does anyone have a solution for this problem?  Or, How can I upgrade my .Net Cyrstal Runtime from 9.1.5 to 9.2.33?

    Thanks,

  • here's how we resolved similiar problem

1.) download and install this Business Objects / Crystal Reports hotfix

    ftp://ftp1.businessobjects.com/outgoing/CHF/crnet11win_en.zip

    Using Windows explorer goto C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal

Decisions\1.0\bin\ExportModeller.dll (right-click, properties, version, File Version)

.... The version used to be 9.1.1.527 but should now be 9.1.1.528

Our specific error message we were getting was

    Error in File

  • The ftp location:
    ftp://ftp1.businessobjects.com/outgoing/CHF/crnet11win_en.zip
seems to be offline, I guess since SAP Purchased BusinessObjects.

I have attempted to go through the SAP Business Objects, Support section and download the crnet11win_en.zip file.  Unfortunately they seem to have a much older version of the hotfix.  Infact that version does not even contain any changes to the ExportModeller.dll

Does anyone know of a mirror ftp location, or where i can get either the .zip file, or the new ExportModeller.dll for windows 2003 SP2 ?

    Thanks,
