(newb) Configuring memory available to CLR RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I am administering a server that is running a .net console application that has been written by somebody else. When my customer tries to run an especially complex problem through the application, he is getting an out of memory exception from the CLR. The system still has lots of memory available when this happens, so I assume that the CLR only has access to a limited amount of system memory.

Is there a way to configure hos much memory the CLR has access to? Are there separate client and server versions of the CLR available (as in the java world)?

    Thanks,

  • Hi Rick,

    You can set-up it in machine.config file ({windows folder}\Microsoft.NET\Framework\{Version Number}\CONFIG}.

There is an option memoryLimit. This option defines how much memory is available to CLR. By default it is 60 (60%).

Please, let me know if it helps.
