Reinforce Recursive Relationship RRS feed

  • Question

  • In the relationship editor/other tool, how can I add or reinforce a recursive relationship?

EDIT: this is Access 2016 I am using.

See this for what exactly I am talking about:

Answers

  • You can do this by simply adding the same table to the relationships window twice.  The second instance will be added with the suffix of "_1".  If for example you have an Employee table with both EmployeeID and ManagedBy fields in it simply add the Employee table twice to the relationships window and link ManagedBy in the first instance to EmployeeID in the second instance.
