  • Hi Jay,

    Thanks to share your post.

    There may be several possible solutions:

    Firstly, please check the web.config has the following section:

    <location path="XXXXX/ExcelCalculationServer" allowOverride="true" inheritInChildApplications="true">
            <system.web>
                <authorization>
                    <allow users="*" />
                </authorization>
            </system.web>
        </location>

    The web.config is located at: %program files%\\Microsoft Office Server\12.0\WebServices\Root\Web.Config.

    The Second possible solution:

    In addition to the stsadm commands, please try running the following:

    stsadm -o setsharedwebserviceauthn -negotiate

    stsadm -o execadmsvcjobs

    The third solution:

    Try to add a couple mappings:  http://MyServerName and http://MyServersActualIPAddress (e.g., http://111.222.333.444).

      After adding these alternate URLs, your Web Excel Services may work properly.

    Hope this could help you!

  • Hi Jay,

    Thanks for posting on TechNet Forum.

    As is posted in the TechNet Forum, one solution might give you a proper hand:

    What you should do is have a windows explorer opened to [12 hive]\LOGS,

    force the error and then open up the most recent time-stamped log file.

    Jump to the end and try to see if there is any obvious error you can find.

    Hope it helps!

  • Hi Jay,

    Thanks to share your post.

    There may be several possible solutions:

    Firstly, please check the web.config has the following section:

    <location path="XXXXX/ExcelCalculationServer" allowOverride="true" inheritInChildApplications="true">
            <system.web>
                <authorization>

            </system.web>
        </location>

  • Hi Jay,

    I just want to ask if you had setup any alternate URLs (aka Alternate Access Mappings on the Operations tab)

    for the site so that you could access it from a non-intranet DNS or IP address.

    you may go to reasearch the error event ID and get the answer in the followed link:

  • Hi Leo,

      We don't use Aletnate access mapping. I have tried what you suggested but no luck. We are using Win 2008 64bit and IIS7.0. Is there any security setting we need to turn on Windows server or IIS7?

    Thanks for all your help.

  • Hi Jay,

    Thanks to follow up your issue.

    As far as I am concerned, you don’t need to turn on the security of the windows server or IIS7.

    Turning security setting may further stop the connecting from the server.

    You may go to check the SharePoint server, whether there is any problem with the intranet. And after that, open the dashboard again.

    Hope this could help you!
