reboot analysis - missing ExplorerReady event RRS feed

  • Question

  • hello,

I am trying to do some reboot perf analysis on my Vista (32bit) SP1 laptop but when I do the cmd xperf -i boot_BASE+CSWITCH_1.etl -a boot I get this msg:
Boot action failed: Could not locate ExplorerReady event or mark.
    Execute: boot [0x80004005]
    Any ideas?

  • Hi Wes,

Any chance that there is some event in the event logs that may be related?

Any chance installing SP2 may be an option you can try?

I assume you're using the version of the WPT that is readily available on the WPA site; you might consider trying the version of the WPT that comes with the Win7RC1 SDK (it's a rather large download, however... but if you mount the ISO you can extract just the WPT install).

  • Hi Wes,

Did you capture the trace using xbootmgr? You need to capture a boot trace to be able to run the boot action.

  • Michael,

Yes, I user the command "xbootmgr -trace rebootCycle –noPrepReboot".
