Is it possible for a user to access a sql database in Azure from outside azure? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

Can anyone tell me if this is possible in Azure?

If I have an Iaas Windows Server hosting a SQL Instance is it possible for someone to connect to it from SQL Server Management Studio from their home PC using a SQL login?  Or would they have to log into an Azure Virtual Desktop and connect via Azure Active Directory?

    Thanks,

    Mark

  • As long as your Azure VM is configured with a public IP, the Network Security Group of that network interface and the Windows firewall itself have been configured to allow SQL (Port 1433) traffic it's possible.
