PrintBackgroundTask RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

I've have been unsuccessful at getting the PrintBackgroundTask of the win8 device app sample to run. Can someone confirm whether these settings are correct.

    Device metadata:

Event id = BackgroundTask.PrintBackgroundTask (Is the namespace.classname syntax right?)

Event Asset = Background.dll (Do I need to specify the path?)

In the device app example there is no BackgroundTaskBuilder to register the background task. I wonder if the 2 settings above are enough to register the background task of a device app?

Do I need to rebuild and redeploy the device app after setting up the device metadata?

Does the background task dll get loaded by windows in memory after the device metadata is saved locally?

I could not see background task having any activity in the event viewer and my breakpoint in the run() method of the background task is not reached after hitting debug in visual studio. I assume my background task is not running.

How do I confirm that the background task is running? Which process do I need to attach to?

    Thanks in advance.
