Difference Between "new Microsoft.Maps.Map" and "new VEMap(" RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been using the interactive sdk for creating the map for my application.  The code from this always creates a new map with new Microsoft.Maps.Map.

However, in researching answers to questions I've seen a lot of code creating maps with new VEMap.  I realize VEMap is a virtual earth map.  I'm just curious if one is out dated, or if there is a comparison between what each one can do.  I can't seem to find any summary of the differences between the two.

  • VEMap is from version 6.3 of Bing Maps which is outdated. The latest version is version 7 and uses a namespace Microsoft.Maps to help prevent naming collisions with other web libraries.
