Package Load Keys (PLK) generation page is broken RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello.

Nobody can generate PLK because this page (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/cc655795.aspx) is broken already two weeks. If I try to open this page then the page doesn't have the form for input required information. Could you fix it or provide the new URL for PLK generation page.

  • Hi foto_shooter,

As far as I know, for VS2010 and later versions, we can upload the VSIX package to VisualStudioGallery.com even we don't have PLK, users can download the package from VisualStudioGallery.com or from the Tools>Extensions and Updates dialog. I've tried that before.

But I'm not quite sure if it's the same for earlier VS versions. You could submit a feedback in Microsoft Connect here, the engineers there will evaluate your problem in a high priority.

    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Hi foto_shooter,

We've brought this to the attention of the folks responsible for maintaining that page.

It looks like IE settings are blocking the content from being displayed, but you should still see the "Generate a Key" form if you click the "Open this content in a new Window". At least that's what I was able to do on with IE11.

As an interim workaround (until they get that page fixed), you might be able to navigate directly to https://vsipprogram.com/External/key?iframe=true to generate the PLK.

As Caillen mentioned, we stopped using that PLK string a few versions back, as it was a major source of irritation and problems for most package developers. But if you're still needing to target those older versions of VS (2008 and earlier), you'll still need to ad the PLK string.

    Sincerely,

    Ed Dore

  • VS 2010 or higher doesn't require the PLK.

    For older versions:

    - Register as VSIP memeber (basic level is free): https://vsipprogram.com

    - Once registered, at the bottom of the home page click the Support link

    - Click the "How do I get a PLK/SLK for Visual Studio?" FAQ entry and follow the instructions
