How to specify a installation directory of .cab file programmatically without having to select when prompted ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am developing a mobile application management tool. I have been blocked by a need to config the installation place (either  mobile memory or mobile storage card ) of a .cab file programmatically which downloaded from internet.

    This tool is a PC side tool. I want to free users having to select the installation directory as prompted on mobile device side.

    I am using wceload.exe to install applications on Windows Mobile devices. Do I have to modify the _setup.xml in a .cab file to satisfy mysely on this point ? if yes, how to ?

    Best Regards,

    -Alvin Hu

  • Hi Alvin Hu,

    We can set a configuration in cab inf file, as we know, when we build a cab project, it will generate a inf file in the release folder. The content is like below:

    [Version]
    Signature="$Windows NT$"
    Provider="Bian Guangming"
    CESignature="$Windows CE$"

    [CEStrings]
    AppName="Process Execute"
    InstallDir=%CE1%\%AppName%

    Just deleting the above bold text. It will not prompt you to select installation directory.

    For installation path, we can set it in cab project, for more information:
