ADO.NET connection resiliency and SQL Azure RRS feed

  • Question

  • The guidance with SQL Azure has been to use robust user-level retry logic, such as the Transient Fault Handling Block. I see that .NET 4.5.1 includes an ADO.NET Connection Resiliency (discussed here) feature that sounds similar. Does ADO.NET Connection Resiliency replace user-level retry logic for SQL Azure? Or is there some reason that we need to continue doing our own retries?

If we continue to use user-level retry logic, will that result in nested retries (eg, our retry logic tries 3 times, and for each of those times ADO.NET CR tries 3 times, so we have 9 retries)?
