  • Hello!

I have a custmer having Azure VMs under pay as you go. He is willing to move to reserved instances. Please advise how this happens? Any downtime?

  • I think of a Reservation as a Very High Priority in the queue for a resource. It does not guarantee you WILL get it, but you probably will.

    You should read the following:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-center/azure-reservationshttps://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/reserved-vm-instances/
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/billing/billing-save-compute-costs-reservations
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/windows/prepay-reserved-vm-instances

    but in short,
sign in to the Portal, then on the left select All Services, then in the search box, enter Reservations, select Add

  • Once you purchase a Reserved Instance through the portal, there is No Downtime at all.

You will start paying the reduced prices without affecting the service.
