Building Metro UI Apps RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

I'm using the VS2012 Ultimate version for building a metro UI app. Also in another machine since my company is a partner I have installed VS2012 Premium.

Trying to create a new project in the Premium version I've noticed that there is a option which says for building windows app store solution etc... which its kind of different from what I saw in Vs2012 Ultimate version.

What is the difference between them ? Am I going to have problems if I develop the App in VS2012 Ultimate when I try to upload it to the Windows Store ???

    thank you

  • so far i know its the same between the ultimate and premium version, but are both the rtm version? the project template name is changed after the release preview and to upload an app into the store you need to build it with the rtm

  • Hi ,

The Ultimate version is the below.

  • OK.

What about the below VS 2012 Premium ?

    Microsoft Visual Studio Premium 2012
    Version 11.0.50727.1 RTMREL
    Microsoft .NET Framework
    Version 4.5.50709

    Installed Version: Premium

I think I'm OK with the above . Correct? It says RTMREL.

I have one more important question for you.

When I copied from the Ultimate trial version My metro Ui app to the Premium RTM VS , when I opened the solution,
it asked me that I need a developer license to develop such kind of applications. Which I obtained of course from the wizard.
Since my company is a Microsoft partner and we obtained the Premium RTM version from Microsoft why do I need a developer
license for this kind of application which will expire in 30 days?
And what will happen after the days limit ?
I thought that we are OK and no needed any further actions from our side.
Do we need to buy or do  something else ?

    thank you
