    Hi,

I have just created a website (starter kit) on Visual Studio 2005. then I copied the created folder into my IIS (5.1) and tried to access the site through IE7. When I go to http://localhost/WebSite1/Default.aspx I get the error showing in the image below (please click for larger version)

if I only type http://localhost/WebSite1 I can see the directory. I wonder did I miss anythink when I was installing IIS?

This is related to application mappings in IIS.

Could you run "aspnet_regiis.exe -i" from %systemroot%>microsoft.net>framework>v2.0.50727 folder and then Reset IIS?

Test the page again and Let me know the results.

    Cheers!

Could also be an issue that the local ASPNET account does not have NTFS Read permissions to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\WebSite1.

All you need to do is...

make sure that actual folder exist in Shared Document Folder of window or otherwise grant permission of sharing before making virtual directory in IIS 5.1

    Follow this Step ....

    Open VS 2005 ...

Publish Your Web Site on the Shared Document of the Windows.

Then go to IIS from Admistrative tool...

then Websites --> Default Web Site

Then Right Click Default Website... go to New --> Virtual Directory and click....

keep any name for Alias like....abcd...

in the directory browse the website ...that in the shared document folder....

make sure you checked...Execute...as u run asp script and Dll in Asp.net...
