Windows 8.1 HCK and v3 printer drivers RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am trying to get a certification for a printer driver of a small and simple dot matrix printer, which is a generic raster driver without any XPS support or things like that. The driver is a v3 unidrv/mini driver and has passed all WLK1.6 tests. But as WLK1.6 has been retired, I was now trying to start the certification with HCK for Windows 8.1. So far, so good, but now the INF verification test fails, because my *.inf file includes some lines that are typical for v3 printer drivers. The error message is that that "system defined classes and settings should not be modified". The part which is affected says "[ClassInstall32.NT]" and "AddReg=printer_class_addreg". In WLK 1.6 there was no errror. Question : does HCK for Win 8.1 support v3 printer drivers and if yes, is it possible to get a Win 8.1 certification for this type of driver ? Is there anything special I need to pay attention to ?
