Desktop background image recompression

Question
-
Hello, I'm not sure that this forum is a correct place for this question, but I could not find any more appropriate. When a BMP or PNG background image was set in Windows 7, it was always recompressed by the system into JPEG format. If an image was already a JPEG, the system used it as-is, without any alteration. This allowed controlling the quality of the background images. Windows 8 seems to always recompress all images, even if they are already in JPEG format. Can this be controlled anyhow? Perhaps there's some registry setting which determines the compression quality, or completely disables this recompression. Thanks in advance!Wednesday, November 16, 2011 5:05 AM

I see this when using LiveID and syncing the background. The picture is totally blurry in Windows 8. I haven't found a way to control this :(

Is there any chance that someone from the shell development team would see this thread? If not, where should I send my question (which is more a feature request than a question, BTW)?Thursday, November 24, 2011 4:55 AM
