how to get wlanapi.lib(.h) and ole32.lib(.h) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an application running on Windows XP (Service Pack 3), built in Visual Studio 6.0.

In this, application there is a requirement to scan all the wireless LAN cards available.

Now  WlanOpenHandle and WlanEnumInterfaces can be used to get the information.

When trying to include wlnapi.h, it gives compilation error. - Cannot open include file: 'wlanapi.h'

But according to the documentation, there are availabl for Windows Vista, Windows XP with SP3.

The application is build  usning VS 6.0

  • You can search if this file exists on your system. And then in include path add the complete path eg: C:/Windows/System32....

    Hello Samuel,

You will have to install Microsoft SDK / Windows SDK (not DDK) to acquire the wlanapi.h + wlanapi.lib. They are usually in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDK\" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDK\". Then set the include folder (to get .h files) & dependency (to link with .lib file) in VS. Then the program will compile and link perfectly.
