Win IoT installation on RPI 3 problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am trying to install Windows IoT on Raspberry PI 3.

For this reason I am using SD 32 GB Ultra HC I of SanDisk.

Somehow after flushing (applying image of Win 10 IoT on the SD) capacity of the SD decreases up to 63.7 MB and it does not make any installation on the Raspberry PI 3.

In addition I was trying just to copy image content to the SD and install, not to flush - with the same negative result.

    What is a problem?

    Does anybody know?

  • Well,

From the beginning I've downloaded disk image ISO:

    10586.0.151029-1700.TH2_Release_IOTCoreRPi_armFRE.ISO

    from here:

    http://ms-iot.github.io/content/en-US/Downloads.htm

(Get Windows 10 IoT Core for Raspberry PI 2).

This file provides installation of the disk Image and installs something wrong, as described above. In addition, it's disk eject does not work and exposes error message ("An error occurred while ejecting CD Drive (E:) J_ARPI_A32FREO_EN_US_DVS").

After that I've tried to install using dashboard (on the same page), unfortunately with the same negative result - after flashing size of the SD card becomes 63.7 MB, 14.0 MB used space, 49.6 MB free space.

    In addition:

    1. For Disk Imaging the program uses Cyberlink ISO Viewer,

    2. All the works are produced on a new DELL Inspiron Core I7, Windows 10 Preinstalled.

    3. NOOBS v1.9 downloaded from here:

    https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/noobs/

not "provides a selection of alternative operating systems", to the contrary to described.

  • if you check the Release notes you will see raspberry pi3 is not supported with 10586

you need at least 14262 (insider preview)

for imaging i recommend to go the supported way Manually set up your IoT Core device

  • Yes,
I've got working installation from here:
    http://ms-iot.github.io/content/en-US/win10/GetStartedManually.htm
"Get Windows IoT Core Insider Preview".
    Thanks.
