Can't RUN a program in VS 2015...

    Question

  • Win 10

    VS 2015, professional, C++

    This is embarrassing!!!

I picked up what could be called a windows primer (the minimum you would want to set up windows to go on to write code

    for gaming (DirectX 12)).

I picked up this code from a book (Frank Luna, DirectX 12)

When I build the code there are no errors (or warnings)... it just indicates that the build was successful!

Then I press the F5 key and NOTHING happens!!

I am at a loss!!! What, probably OBVIOUS thing, am I missing? (please consider that I am a beginner in all this!

So I don't speak Clingon yet!!).

  • Hi phil_har,

Simple question for you is ... does you program run when you run it with click navigate to Start -> Start without debugging or Start debugging

And I recommend you to take a look at "Enable the Visual Studio hosting process" under the debug tab in the project properties ... make sure that you uncheck it and try again.

Hope this was helpful for you...

    Best regards!

  • Thanx Almir for your answer>

Whether I start with or without debugging the result is the same!

As far as VS hosting process if this refers to NuGet package, its installation failed when VS 2015 was downloaded, is that important?? Because right now I can't find it...

  • In that case ... I recommend you to do repair of your VS installation, it is not recommended to use VS if anything in installation was failed...

Enable the Visual Studio hosting process is located here:

    Best regards!
