Content Query Webpart Missing Content Type and Approval Status RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm a great fan o the CQWP , and love the changes made in 2010 on this webpart. What bothers me is that I use to Filter Documents by Approval Status, thus showing Draft or Pending Documents and Group these by their Content Type.

Both these were available in 2007, but removed from 2010 CQWP. Any idea why, or how to bring this back? sample or URL guidance would be great. My gut feeling is custom XSLT but id like to confirm this first.

    Thx a lot

  • Hi,

I can see Approval Status on Additional Filters dropdown, please ensure that you enable content approval for the library. However the content type field isn’t available on the Group items by dropdown on my side either.

    Thanks & Regards.

  • Ive got a few document libraries and I have a dashboard with a content query . My SOURCE is the Site Collection, LIST TYPE is Document Library. Run over All Content Types.  Then youll replicate my issue.

I have found a solution though. Sharepoint Designer 2010 ,Open the properties of the CQWP and replace the GUID of the Filters. Updated my CQWP in 2010 with the Approval Status ,filter GUID and it works. Also same with Content Type group by GUID.

I found this link for List GUID

So the fields are missing in 2010 CQWP dropdowns but with the Guid you can still get it working as in 2007. Great for surfacing pending documents by Content Type on a dashboard.

Just remember each time you edit the CQWP , youll loose those GUID settings, so always set this up in SharePoint Designer.

I also explain the full process here:
