Access to a network folder through a Transport Agent (Permission Management) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

    i have the following problem.
i want to access a network folder from an Transport Agent to save copies of attachement in this folder.

My Problem is that i don't know which user the Transport Agent uses to access this folder.
I don't want to grant everyone access to this folder.
If i grant everyone access everything works fine.

Is there any way to define a identity which the Transport Agent should use?

Or can someone tell me, which identity a Transport Agent uses to access a network folder?

    With network folder i mean
a folder on a shared network drive.

Would be great, if someone could help me.

    Best Regards,

    L.B.

  • Transport Agents run under credentials of the Microsoft Exchange Transport Service which is Network Service as default. More specifically your code runs within the EdgeTransport.exe process which you can see in Task manager etc and see what credentials its using. You should be able to just grant Network Service access to the folder in question.

    Cheers
