Silverlight 3 project with connection to MS Access Database RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can someone send me a simple SilverLight 3 project which has a MS Access database connection. (just filling a datagrid or just a listbox from the MS Access database is enough) I'm using VS2008 with VB.Net.

  • Thanks Ardman!!!

    But i decided to move on MySQL.

    I think MySQL is better than MS Access.

  • But SQL Server is not supported from my WebHost :)

    Please help me, if you have any tutorial about MySQL database connectivity in Silverlight.

    Thanks!

  • Hello David,

    Thanks for replay.

    I follow the provided link and stop at stage of "Click the WSDL (http://localhost:49551/SampleService.svc?wsdl) to view the operations and bindings."

    here i got the error "The type 'SQLData.Web.Service1', provided as the Service attribute value in the ServiceHost directive could not be found."

    service1.svc

    <%@ ServiceHost Language="VB" Debug="true" Service="SQLData.Web.Service1" CodeBehind="Service1.svc.vb" %>

    service1.svc.vb

    Namespace SQLData.Web<ServiceContract(Namespace:="")> _

    <AspNetCompatibilityRequirements(RequirementsMode:=AspNetCompatibilityRequirementsMode.Allowed)> _

    Public Class Service1

    ' Add <WebGet()> attribute to use HTTP GET

    <OperationContract()> _

    Public Function Customelist() As List(Of Customer)

    ' Add your operation implementation here

    Dim nwConn As String = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("NorthwindConnectionString").ConnectionString

    Dim custList = New List(Of Customer)()

    Using conn As New MySqlConnection(nwConn)

    Const sql As String = "SELECT TOP 10 Model, Scenario, Section FROM Scenmario_Sec"

    conn.Open()

    Using cmd As New MySqlCommand(sql, conn)

    Dim dr As MySqlDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior.CloseConnection)

    If dr IsNot Nothing Then

    Do While dr.Read()Dim cust = New Customer With {.CustomerName = dr.GetString(0), .CompanyName = dr.GetString(1), .ContactName = dr.GetString(2)}

    custList.Add(cust)

    Loop

    End If

    Return custList

    End Using

    End Using

    End Function

    ' Add more operations here and mark them with <OperationContract()>

    End Class

    End Namespace

    could you tell me about this!!!!
