Stuck in Audit Mode ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am having a bit of conceptual difficulty with the various passes of processing as specified in the Image Configuration Editor.
    I have most everything working except that the phase 6 (audit user) seems to not be processed.

    I have some RunSynchronous commands that are not run.

    I have my setup fully unattended after I boot from the USB drive. The USB contains a Win PE that includes a network driver in the boot.win and a Startnet.cmd that contains one line:
    D:\Setup.exe /unattend:D:\Sources\NGC_AnswerFile.xml

    WES7 is installed on the SBC/device computer and at the end, it auto logon's to Aministrator in what I think is AuditUser mode.
    But the RunSynchronous commands are not executed.
    The last several lines in the setupact.log are:
    2012-06-08 16:03:24, Info       [0x090081] PANTHR Destroying any unreferenced modules! (SEQ6)
    2012-06-08 16:03:24, Info       [0x0601dc] IBS    Setup has completed phase 4 at 2012-06-08 16:03:24

    2012-06-08 16:03:24, Info       [0x090009] PANTHR CBlackboard::Close: c:\windows\panther\setupinfo.

    The cached unattend.xml file in the device's Windows\Panther folder indicates:
    <settings wasPassProcessed="true" pass="specialize">
    <settings pass="auditUser">
    <settings wasPassProcessed="true" pass="offlineServicing">
    <settings pass="auditSystem">
    <settings wasPassProcessed="true" pass="oobeSystem">
    <settings pass="generalize">

    I don't understand why oobe (phase 7) was processed but phase 5 & 6 (audit system & audit user) were not.
    In the Phase 5 settings, I have reseal set to shutdown=false, mode=Audit.
    If I manually reboot the device, it comes up in audit mode again. (auto logson to Administrator)

  • Thanks for all of the responses.

    It turns out that I was never in audit mode.

  • An image doesn't necessarily go through all the passes. If you Sysprep /generalize /oobe, the image never gets to audit mode.
