How to handle Bluetooth LE sleep mode RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi I am looking at writing to a certain Bluetooth 4.0 service, however I am not to sure how to handle the device going into sleep mode?

What would be the best way to handle if the connection was lost?

    Thanks for your help

  • Can you explain in more detail what you are doing?

Windows Store apps on Windows 8 do not support Bluetooth LE. There is new Bluetooth support provided for Windows Store apps in Windows 8.1. See Bluetooth in the Windows 8.1 Preview Feature Guide.

  • Of course thanks for such a quick reply,

So using windows 8.1 store app I am thinking about creating a test Bluetooth application, just to check out the tech. One thing I am a little confused about is the way the OS handles the devices when it is in sleep mode. So I pair a Bluetooth 4.0 device and I am able to interact with it. After a small amount of time the device will enter sleep mode, and the OS throws an exception about connection. What is the best way to handle this as it seems that the OS does not handle this scenario.

    Hope this makes sense

    Thanks
