Does Microsoft have a IP to Geo location database? RRS feed

  • I have been getting to many phony emails. 

    I want o know does Microsoft have a IP address to Geo location database?

    In other words; I can write a query and give it an IP address and it will tell me where the IP address is located?

  • Hello MRM256,

    This forum is for Windows IoT Core and Windows IoT Enterprise support. This issue is not relative to Windows IoT Core or IoT Enterprise. As far as i know, there is API in Azure Maps for getting IP to location in preview, this service will return the ISO country code for the provided IP address. It is possible to move this case to Azure Maps forum for better support.

  • Azure Maps has an IP address to location service. It is a REST based service, not a database you download and host yourself. Currently it is accurate to country level, but higher accuracy options are being added soon (i.e. city block level). Here are some relevant resources:
