Naming Convention for Batch Nodes RRS feed

  • Question

  • It seems that the naming convention for nodes in Batch is: "tvm-{value1}_{index}-{date}t{value2}". What does each value (value1 and value2) represent and how is {index} set based on those values?

    Thanks!

  • There are multiple naming conventions for Azure Batch compute nodes, depending on whether they are PaaS or IaaS, on which version of our back end services are provisioning the compute nodes, and on when the nodes are provisioned.

The pattern you've identified is therefore specific to a particular combination of other factors.

The exact conventions used are not formally documented. We (Azure Batch) wouldn't recommend taking any particular dependency on the naming structure as it may change at any time.
