Create a table called "ApplicationUsers" and provide the necessary fields for your specific business purposes (e.g. the department field), but also provide a field called "UserId", where you store the LightSwitch userId (this.Application.User.
...)
By doing so you have an "augemented" User tabled which you can use for row level security purposes, etc.
