Problem re-installing .NET framework 4.5 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I recently had to update Visual Studio 2013 RC since the version I had was a prerelease, so I downloaded the VS 2013 Update 4 and installed it. After the installation, when I opened up VS, it crashed immediately. I've searched on forums and some said that uninstalling the .NET framework and re-installing could solve the problem. So I uninstalled the framework, but now I'm in a situation where I can't re-install the framework.. When I try to run the setup.exe, it tells me that the framework is still installed! I tried running a cleanup tool and then the repair tool provided by Microsoft (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dotnet/archive/2014/04/28/introducing-the-microsoft-net-framework-repair-tool.aspx) but it still doesn't work and tells me the framework is installed..

Anyone encountered this situation or know how to fix it?

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hello SimCity7,

I think you also need to check whether there are any RC related components remained on your OS.

Please use this tool to detect:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2005/07/01/using-msiinv-to-gather-information-about-what-is-installed-on-a-computer.aspx

It will generate a product list with product code. If you still can find any RC components, use msiexec /x <product code> to remove it.

    Best regards,

    Barry

  • To find out about the status of .NET 4.5 on your system, please use this tool:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx

Run the tool with .NET 4.5 selected, then post the first 15 lines AND the last 15 lines of the tool log here.

Also, please share your Windows version.

Did you uninstall VS 2013 RC before installing the RTM?
