Service starting an executable on server 2008 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Howdy,

we have a legacy win32 app ( 10 years old) which is running as service. This app is pretty much a scheduler and periodically start another win32 app.

The started app performs some data lookup and finally sends emails.

This is not working anymore under win 2008 server.

I am assuming due to change in isolation level.

So, my general question is whether the old approach of a service starting an executable is still "legal" with windows server 2008 and up
