Rehosting WF 4.0 Designer in Silverlight RRS feed

  • Question

  • Are there any plans to make the WF 4.0 workflow designer hostable within Silverlight 4? If so, when can we expect this to become available? The company I work for is considering using WF 4.0 but unless there is some way of being able to view and modify workflows from within our web application, WF 4.0 becomes useless for our business needs (and no, we can not use a web-viewable WPF application or any kind of desktop app implementation).

Is there any way to "hack" the current WF 4.0 designer to maybe even get a subset of the functionality to work within a Silverlight 4 application? Even if end-users don't have access to the full spectrum of functionality within the WF 4.0 designer, some basic viewing/editing capabilities would satisfy our needs.

Answers

  • No, WF 4.0 designer relies too heavily on WPF, and can't run on Silverlight.
It might happen in a future release, but not 4.0.
