Using Expression Blend with VS.NET and C# RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I am just learning Expression Blend. I am a visual designer with some programming background. Few questions:

    1. Can I use Expression Blend to design the UI? and the other team using VS.NET/C# to do the backend.

    2. How do I integrate the UI designed using Blend with VS.NET?

Appreciate some assistance as I am really new using Blend.

    Thanks.

  • 1. Absolutely, its one of the reasons for Blends existence to provide that separation and is what I do all day long, but I still normally build the actual project(s) in VS since it seems to do so faster. Just get used to Ctrl-Shift+S often if you flip between Blend and VS sporadically.

    2. Open your project(s) solutions etc. in Blend the same way you would in VS, do your work and save it. When its opened again in VS the changes are there. In our shop we have the developers doing their thing(s) in VS and the designer(s) primarily in Blend and we're both hooked up through TFS so it's just like you'd be doing your work in VS, but using Blend. Which beats the experience of designing in VS alone hands down. Welcome to the wonderful world of Blend :)
