Displaying Documents on Web parts RRS feed

  • Question

  • In SharePoint 2007, I am using Page Viewer web part to display a PDF document. It does not work well in IE8. The PDF appears outside the web part.

Is there a better web part that can handle this. I dont want to change the settings of browsers or PDF doc since many users will have to change the settings. I want to use a web part that can easily display PDF or any other docs.

    Any ideas. thanks so much

  • Try using the content editor web part instead:

The article is for 2010, but you can use it for 2007 too. You'll have to paste the HTML in the CEWP source editor instead of the HTML tag as described in the link.

  • Displaying a PDF file in browser really has nothing to do with SharePoint. It depends on your installation of the PDF viewer software you have installed. If you're using Adobe Reader and the program is configured not to display PDF file within the browser window, then it'll always open outside the webpart/browser in Adobe Reader program window.
