Help file content for VS2017

    Question

  • I installed VS2017. I then open the VS2017 IDE, click Help | Add and Remove Content and then in Help Viewer 2.3 I see the online content. The content topics related to Visual Studio all say Visual Studio 2015, but this is Visual Studio 2017. Where is the help content for Visual Studio 2017 ? The status bar says:

    "26 books returned from https://services.mtps.microsoft.com/ServiceAPI/catalogues/Dev15/en-US"

This clearly suggests help content for VS2015, not VS2017. How can I change this URL path to give me help for VS2017 ? Both my Disk path and my local store path also point to VS2015. How do I get this to work with VS2017 ? Do I have to update VS2017 itself somehow to one with a later release date ?

  • Hi friend,

I got the exactly same issue as yours in my side.

Thanks for your posting here to let us know it.

When I was going to submit a report, I found someone also suffered it. And I already voted it and commented on it.

You could go there and vote it, I think the VS develop team will let us know when it will be fixed.

    Best regards,

    Fletch

It is incredible to me that Microsoft would release a major product like VS2017, without any documentation whatever. So much for the new "leadership" at Microsoft. In Gates/Ballmer's worst dreams this would never happen.
